self-portraitJames is a commercial illustrator since 1986, a graphic designer since 1992 and a web designer and animator since 1998. He's also worked as the marketing and communications director for a local tax-deferred investment accomodator which grew from one Denver office to an international firm with 9 offices nationwide in just two years. His work branding the company helped his employer draw the attention of Rich Dad/Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump, both of which have since become collaborators.

He graduated cum laude from San Francisco State University with a fine arts degree in drawing and painting and an additional degree in filmmaking. A Dean's List student, he made National Dean's List his last year at SFSU. He also has an Associates degree from El Camino College in Torrance, California, and finished El Segundo High School in 1985.

Currently James teaches college courses in graphic design in Denver, Colorado, and is an associate producer of the upcoming film, Tears of my Soul (preproduction), the true story of an adolescent Cambodian boy who witnessed the slaughter of his entire family at the hands of the Khmer Rouge and made revenge his life's mission (TearsFilm.com), planned for release in 2014.

James plays guitar, drums, harmonica, bass, congas/percussion and piano semiprofessionally. When not teaching or freelancing, he enjoys cigars, graphite sketching, playing music at church, dreaming up screenplays, reading history and biographies, or just hanging out with his wife of 19 years and/or some combination of his four kids.
